E.ON SOLAR - A SIMPLE, REFRESHING VIEW ON SOLAR ENERGY

Did you ever consider switching to solar energy but got overwhelmed with the process?

Then you are not alone....

Getting all the right information was a long and complex project. Until now. E.ON Solar is a website that enables visitors to calculate the investment and longterm savings of solar energy. It takes but a few clicks. Since its launch in June, the website generated thousands of leads per month and made solar energy accessible to the broad public.

Time to talk to Rudolf Krejcar, the lead of CreativeDock's project for E.ON Solar.

RUDOLF, WHAT’S E.ON’S LONGTERM VISION FOR THE PROJECT?

E.ON thrives to educate citizens about solar energy in the simplestmost straightforward way possible. By doing this, E.ON wants to move the Czech Republic to use cleaner energies and improve the nation’s CO2 path. The longterm goal is to make the Czech Republic one of the ‘greenest’ countries in Europe.

HOW DO YOU MAKE SUCH A COMPLEX TOPIC SIMPLE?

We ask page visitors one simple question: What’s your address?

That’s the only piece of information we need. Based on this, our system runs a complex analysis in the background. Within seconds, visitors get an accurate overview of the savings and costs involved. It’s the fastest way to get all the basic information in one place

AND CAN PEOPLE GO BEYOND BASICS?

Sure. After the initial search, which just requires the location, people can refine the parameters. Does the house have a pool? Which type of heating do you use? All these criteria have an impact on the longterm savings and can be added in a second step. It’s really a selfeducation tool for solarenthusiastsa onestop solution.

WHAT’S THE COOLEST FEATURE OF THE INTERFACE?

Our map interface is able to isolate the roof area from the rest of the building. This way, we can give an accurate estimate of the costs and savings involved. In the future, we want to display the installed solar panels on the roof already, so people get an actual feel of how solar energy would look in their case.

AND ARE PEOPLE USING THE WEBSITE?

Yes. Since the launch in June 2017, we collect thousands of leads per month. Unfortunately, most people stop after the basic search; only 20% of visitors go deeper and refine the results by adding more variables. We want to increase this number in the future and further improve our data analysis and metrics to deliver the best possible
